Healthy Snack: Pasta pots

Posted: Jul 02 2014

As you know, carbohydrates are incredibly important to an athlete's diet; we use carbs as fuel to keep us going. This is why taking a small pot of pasta for your lunch or as a snack is a great way to keep your energy levels topped up throughout the day.

This snack should take no longer than 15 minutes to prepare and cook.

  • Add a snack-sized portion of pasta to boiling water (the portion size is up to you and your appetite)
  • Flash fry some fresh veg; peppers and mushrooms are good for this, and add to the cooked and drained pasta
  • Add a low fat sauce if you're feeling wild (tomato is usually a winner), simply heat in a pan and pour over the pasta

Cooked pasta mixed with stir fried vegetables

The good thing about this dish is that you can eat it hold or cold, ideal for when you are training.
