Healthy Snack: Pasta pots
Posted: Jul 02 2014
As you know, carbohydrates are incredibly important to an athlete's diet; we use carbs as fuel to keep us going. This is why taking a small pot of pasta for your lunch or as a snack is a great way to keep your energy levels topped up throughout the day.
This snack should take no longer than 15 minutes to prepare and cook.
- Add a snack-sized portion of pasta to boiling water (the portion size is up to you and your appetite)
- Flash fry some fresh veg; peppers and mushrooms are good for this, and add to the cooked and drained pasta
- Add a low fat sauce if you're feeling wild (tomato is usually a winner), simply heat in a pan and pour over the pasta
The good thing about this dish is that you can eat it hold or cold, ideal for when you are training.
