With all this talk about superfoods it is easy to forget the benefits of old favourites. Cherries are one of the most antioxidant-rich fruits that we can get and they are especially good for athletes.
It has been shown through research that eating cherries, or drinking their juice can reduce muscle pain after exercise due to their natural anti-inflammatory components.
Remove the stones the night before you train so that you don't need to fiddle with them when you just want to eat. Then munch away to you hearts content.
These can also make a great dessert option when it's your turn to cook. Why not drizzle them in chocolate? Slightly more sinful but still beneficial to your body.
