It has been debated for years, but the recent hype over green tea has propelled it into the spotlight. It has been used in medicines for thousands of years but we want to know how this beverage can benefit you as athletes.
It has been argued that green tea can help to lower cholesterol and blood pressure due to the catechins in the tea. The catechins and caffeine in green tea also act as antioxidants, which are said to speed up metabolism and help to burn fat. Try having a cup before you eat to see any difference.
It has also been suggested that green tea can help to regulate glucose levels by stabilising blood sugar levels.
Although there is little solid evidence to suggest that green tea can have big benefits to our health, if it works for you then go for it.
