Luke Campbell MBE wears Chess London

25 Year old Luke Campbell MBE is the up and coming star of British boxing. He is no stranger to winning being the most decorated amateur boxer in British history. He achieved the silver medal in the World Championships and gold medals in both European and Olympic titles.
Being the first Bantamweight to win the Gold for Britain in the Olympics since Henry Thomas in 1908, Luke took a year out of boxing turning professional in April 2013. He use some of this time to learn how to Ice skate on the ITV show Dancing on Ice.
He managed to reach the final and achieve a very respectable third place with his professional dance partner Jenna Smith. Obviously a man with many talents!
Campbell's grandfather was an Irish boxing champion so it is obviously in his blood. His first professional fight at Hull KR's home ground Craven Park resulted in the knock out of Andy Harris in just 88 seconds. Being promoted by Eddie Hearn son of promoter Barry and with his fights now licensed to be shown on Sky Sports it will only be a matter of time before anyone who doesn't already know his name, soon will.
Following Luke's successes in boxing, he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire(MBE) in the 2013 New Years Honours for services to boxing and then the Royal Mail issued a first class stamp depicting him. Like every Gold Medalist in the Olympics a post box was also painted gold to commemorate this victory in his home town of Hull. Not bad achieving all that by the age of twenty five.
There's no doubt Luke still has a lot of work to do to become a boxing great on the professional circuit but with Eddie Hearn comparing the support for him in Hull similar to that of Ricky Hattons in Manchester it's clear he has more than enough backing to help him achieve these goals.
With two young sons with his fiancee Lynsey Kraanen, Luke is an athlete to aspire too both in and out of the ring.
